Tagines are a traditional Moroccan serving dish that will give your visitors a taste of Morocco as it was meant to be enjoyed. Either the dish or its cooking vessel, a conical kettle called a tagine, can be called a tagine. The steam that rises from the liquid in the tagine is captured and directed back down the sides, where it is further infused with taste, thanks to the vessel's unique design.
The Tagines are hand-made in Morocco by experienced artisans and have a semi-smooth gloss and a distressed appearance; they were created with presentation and adornment in mind. Not surprisingly, they also make excellent plates for serving. The glaze used on this tagine is safe for consumption and contains no harmful substances like lead. The tagines here are for presentation and serving purpose only.
Clay, a material unique to Fes, is mined only there, at a location known as Ben.
In Fes, clay is dried for 20 days, broken, cleaned, and soaked for two days. Artisans shape it into vases, jars, and plates by hand, bake at 2000°C for 8 hours, paint with natural colors, coat for shine, and bake again. The products are durable for daily use. Zellige tiles are baked, painted, and designed with intricate patterns by the Nekkach. Assembled with "la resin," these tiles showcase Fes’s craftsmanship inspired by ancient designs.
