One of the most notable examples of Custom Mosaic is the Zellige fountains, which were created by dedicated Moroccan artisans who are working hard to preserve their tradition. The details matter in this mysterious work of art, the fountain. It is made from premium materials that are only found in Morocco and features a distinguished pattern in a rainbow of colors. A fountain is crafted by Moroccan artisans using zellige tiles that have been harmoniously assembled in a variety of colors. A massive iron frame that mimics the fountain's design surrounds the delicate tile patterns.
Clay, a material unique to Fes, is mined only there, at a location known as Ben.
In Fes, clay is dried for 20 days, broken, cleaned, and soaked for two days. Artisans shape it into vases, jars, and plates by hand, bake at 2000°C for 8 hours, paint with natural colors, coat for shine, and bake again. The products are durable for daily use. Zellige tiles are baked, painted, and designed with intricate patterns by the Nekkach. Assembled with "la resin," these tiles showcase Fes’s craftsmanship inspired by ancient designs.
