Cascara Sagrada has been used traditionally by Native Americans for washing the bowel, and one of the best herbs available that may help with occasional constipation. Cascara Sagrada contains compounds called anthraquinones, which may help in peristalsis – an action to do with contracting the colon walls that gives you an urge to go.

Directions: Add at least 1 tbsp of tea in 8-10oz of water. Bring water (with herbs) to a boil over a medium fire, then reduce to low and simmer for another 5-15 minutes. Strain and pour into cups. Drink twice a day as needed.
Note: Cascara sagrada tea has a bitter and slightly resiny taste.
